Hello, Heather. Thank you for joining me.

SPEAKER_01

Hi, thank you so much for having me. Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this. I love these conversations. They and they go where they're going to go.

SPEAKER_00

They're so fun. And I wanted to have you on the podcast for a while. And those of you who are listening who know my spiritual journey will understand why. But I'm getting goosebumps already because I think it's really cool when you can have those conversations about intuition and those signs and your path. So a little bit about the past, a little bit about the current and how we work that into the future is really in what we deal with with our health, our nutrition. And sometimes we forget that spiritual side a little bit. So I think it's really important to have that conversation.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Yeah. And I appreciate that too, just because it is holistic. And I feel like in a lot of different modalities or professions or practices, it almost feels like spirituality is kind of either forgotten or not talked about. And so I really appreciate this being brought into conversation just because there's so many things that being able to be aligned to your spirituality does for your health.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Ourselves are such a, we're so complicated, right? And doing the to-do list of the I'm working out at the gym and I'm going to eat these foods, I'm going to attract these macros. I mean, that's data that is tangible. And for some reason, that spiritual data seems to be a little bit fleeting, or we tend to dismiss it or deny it. And so I'm really excited to hear about how you learned and stepped into your gift in order to share with other people. So before I we get into all that, why don't you tell us a little bit about you and your spiritual journey?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. So I really appreciate this because I've been on a spiritual journey for about 25 years. And I feel like I've been trying to legitimize it for 25 years. And I'm really excited to share and maybe a little bit, a little bit more about the science behind spirituality and what is coming down the pike. So my spiritual journey began probably, this sounds really funny, but it actually probably began when I was two. And so what had happened was I had had uh this urgency to crawl out of my crib. I remember crawling out of my crib and like just having this urgency to run out to the kitchen table. And I remember running out to the kitchen table and feeling like I had to get a bill. I had to see if the bill was here. And I remember tangibly in my head thinking, there's a bill, there's a bill on the table, I have to get it. And I ran out to the kitchen table and I was just like rifling through everything. And I heard my mom in the background and she said, Heather, your Sesame Street subscription is coming. And I just kind of looked at the table and I was looking at the house and I was just feeling like it was in a completely different world. And I looked at my hands and I was expecting to see adult hands, but instead I saw two-year-old hands. And I remember just being like, What is happening? But nobody had any idea what to make of it. And so I even told my mom, where's the bill? Where's the bill? And she kept talking about the Sesame Street subscription. So what's interesting here is that through my childhood, I had a lot of these different experiences. I had various loved ones come in and talk with me. One of the times, I believe I was six months old. My mom had me on the kitchen table in a car seat, ready to go to the grocery store. And she stepped away for a minute. And my grandmother, who's in spirit, she came in and I just started laughing with her. And my mom came back into the kitchen and she just said, You were just looking up and you were laughing. And I couldn't figure out why. And at the same time, there's been so many of these experiences, but nobody knew how to explain them to me or educate me with on them. And so when I was 12, I just turned it all off completely and just thought, I don't know what this is, but I'm just gonna turn it off. And so it turned back on when I was 19. And that's when my cousin passed in a car accident. And so I just remember it actually, I was couch surfing at the time. I'll just share that I had been traveling for a while and had no place to stay. So one of my friends said, You can you can hang out here. And I remember getting the phone call. So I'm sitting on a couch, I get the phone call. My mom says to me, Mikey has passed. And I just said, What do you mean, Mikey has passed? And she said, He passed in a car accident tonight. And I said, No, no, no, he can't, he can't. And so I just remember the next morning I was going to go to the crash scene and just kind of give homage, bless, you know, bless what was there. And I remember coming to the crash scene and seeing a lot of debris from the night before. And as I was looking at everything, I looked down and I saw a piece of his glasses. And I just broke down and I started crying. And I dropped down to my knees. And I just remember saying, please just send me an angel, send me an angel. And I was on this backcountry road, there was absolutely nobody there. And I dropped to my knees sobbing. And all of a sudden, a man on a bike came down a hill. And as he was coming down, he just looked at the scene and he pulled me up by my hands and he started praying. And he started praying for the scene. He started praying for my cousin. And then he said, May you be well. And he gets on his bike. And as soon as he had arrived, he left. And I just thought, what in the world was that? So a few weeks later, I was meditating and my cousin came into the meditation and he started bumping me on my forehead and his little freckles and everything. And he just looked at me and I looked at him and he pointed to his glasses. And I said, You have your glasses. And he nodded his head. And then I said, Did you send me the angel? And he nodded his head again. And then he left. And I'm like, What was that? And so 19 years old. And I just thought, okay, there is something here. So I've been studying spirituality ever since.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I just love that story. It just gives me so much comfort because those times when you ask for a sign and then you'll get it. And then you have that epiphany where you're like, oh, this is legit. Like I can believe in this, I can step into this. Like that's that's a hard step to make, in my opinion, for some reason. You know, it's to really step in and understand that it's real, right? Like for some reason we have this hard time doing it. So let's get into the science a bit about it, because I think sometimes people need that data to back up the gift. So when you started learning, how did that go?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I really appreciate this just because so much was happening to me. And then I would have these very hushed conversations with people. And I just remember one time I was with a friend in the mall in my early 20s, and I said, Had you ever heard of the chakras? And I whispered it. And she would just say, the what? And I said, The chakras. And she said, Heather, speak up. And I was like, the chakras. And like all these people turned and looked at me. And I just think of that. Oh gosh, that was almost 30 years ago. And so I think about that. And I think in those days, it was almost like people just weren't talking about this. And so I just felt to do a lot of research. And I'm an occupational therapist by trade. And so as an occupation, spirituality is an occupation. So I would make a lot of goals and plans surrounding spirituality for people. So for example, there was a woman that I went to her house and she had just had a stroke and she wasn't able to kneel down at her own altar. And so we created a plan and a goal so that she would be able to eventually kneel down at her altar. And when she did, it was absolutely miraculous. And I was there to witness it. So some of that, the occupational therapy, kind of backs up the spirituality, if that makes sense, because it is an occupation. And then also, as I've been doing a lot of the research, we found that there's a lot of neuroscience behind this. So Lisa Miller with the awakening brain, she shares a lot of this. And so with this, also with my background in brain spotting, we've discovered that spirituality actually is in the brainstem. So we may have uh we may have trauma in the brainstem, we may have also intuition and creativity in that subcortical and in that brainstem. And through brain spotting, we're actually being able to process the brain down through the spine. And so we're being able to access our spirituality through brain spotting, and they're witnessing that actually our spirit is in the brain. And so this is so exciting. I mean, it's just really cutting edge what's coming down the pike. And so I teach a course called brain spotting spirituality and intuition with my colleague Sheree Lindbergh. And we found a lot of the science behind it. So also as we're accessing spirituality, a lot of neurotransmitters drop in. So we have the serotonin, we have the oxytocin. So with this, too, as these neurotransmitters are dropping in, we're able to connect even more with the divine. So this is what's happening behind the scenes. So truly, we are in the likeness of our creator. And with that, we can connect with our creator. So that's a little background of science and spirituality.

SPEAKER_00

It's beautiful. I when doing research for this conversation, this that was the first time I had heard the term brain spotting. So that, you know, as familiar as I am with the with people and their spiritual growth, I had not heard that term before. So can you enlighten me a little bit on what that term means and you know how that works?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So brain spawning was found and developed by Dr. David Grant. Uh, this was over 20 years ago. And he was with a client and she was an ice skater, and they had been doing really um 90-minute sessions for an entire year on a lot of her performance blocks. And they had done EMDR, they had done some other somatic experiencing, really intense therapy. And during one session, he just felt compelled to kind of put his fingers up and just watch where her eyes went. And he noticed at one point that her eyes started kind of wobbling a little bit. So he just held his fingers there. And that was a brain spot. And so a brain spot is basically a file in the brain that's holding something. So it could be holding trauma, whatever it is it's holding. And so he held his fingers there, and all of a sudden a torrent of old trauma came coming out. And so what was interesting is that a lot of her performance blocks was connected with her parents' divorce, with a lot of trauma. And so she wasn't able to do this triple loop. So she wasn't able to do that. And after the brain spotting session, the very next day, she was able to do it. And so that's how he was able to find brain spotting. And with that, the main premise is where you look affects how you feel. So if you were to look to the right or to the middle or to the left, you would just feel different. So for me, myself, when I just did it, I felt calm, I felt angry, and I felt anxious. So those are files in my brain that I could explore. And so with that, um, Frank Corrigan is one of the first hypotheses of brain spotting. And he shares once we orient to that eye position that we're able to access that file in the brain, and then we brain spot it. And then all of those thought patterns then really consolidate. And so it's been very empowering for so many people. Yeah. I feel like I live and breathe brain spotting, so I could talk about it all day long.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's so fascinating because we're so complicated, right? To think that we are just, I shouldn't say just, but a species that is only physical, that the brain is this machine that controls the rest of the body, and that's it, is crazy. Like there's so much more to it. And to now have data to support it and to be able to have conversations about the data that supports it is so cool. It really feels like it's just the beginning because I think we have no idea what our full potential is as far as the mind goes.

SPEAKER_01

Right, absolutely. And what's been really exciting about this is that with brain spotting, you can process trauma and you can also move into expansion. And so a lot of times I'll do my own self-spotting in the morning and I'll find a joy spot and I'll just be on that self-spot and then I'll try to expand it. That would be called expansion brain spotting. And so, with that, as I do my own spiritual work, or I'm also a medium. And so with that, I have my own brain spots that are specific to intuition, specific to mediumship. And even one, I have I'm a performer, so I play piano and choir and that type of thing. And I was trying to remember this chord from like third grade. And I remember playing the piano just recently. I was like, what is that chord? I couldn't remember it. And I just went like this to the right, and all of a sudden it started playing on my left hand. And I was like, there's the file. So it's all in our brain.

SPEAKER_00

That's I'm just quiet because I can't even imagine because I feel like all the files in my brain, I like I can't access any of them. I can't access what I did five minutes ago. You know, there's just so much noise. So that's really fascinating to me that you can control it enough that you can access the files appropriately in order to accomplish what you're trying to do. And not only accomplish, but to open things up spiritually and just in your, like you said, your performance and your relationships. I can imagine it goes, you know, into your full being and everything that you do in your life. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. And I really do pay attention and I pay attention to others too. So as I'm holding space for people for brain spotting, it could be that we're looking at trauma, which would make sense. And the more and more that we're able to clear out trauma, the more and more we can access our intuition and access that clarity. And that's what Shere Lindbergh and I had noticed. And so we, as we were developing brain spotting, spirituality, and intuition, we were noticing that more and more of our clients clearing out the trauma. They were accessing their spirituality and intuition. And what was interesting is that loved ones from spirit were coming into the sessions. They were talking to their loved ones. And so that's why we started going through all of the research and like, why is this happening? So that's what I really appreciate with brain spotting. Me myself, uh, I've had uh four concussions. So I'm an endurance athlete, and so I've had multiple concussions. And I had one practitioner tell me before brain spotting, she said that my corpus callosum was not letting my brain hemispheres talk to each other. And so through brain spotting, the corpus callosum has started to talk to the both brain hemispheres. Um, for a while there, I had a hard time with word retrieval, executive functioning. Every once in a while you'll hear it as I'm speaking. But for the most part, I've been able to reconsolidate so that some of those concussion-like symptoms, they're just not there anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's so fascinating. The one thing that's really been getting my attention lately is the power of the mind to heal the body. And, you know, you're talking there about, you know, the power of the mind healing the mind. But again, it we're so complicated. And when you hear these stories of people who do the work spiritually and mentally and with their mind and how they, you know, cure cancer and cure themselves and these miraculous things happen. It's just, it's so exciting for me. Like that's just my my passion project right now, we're just just researching all these things that are happening because I really true believe that there is an element of our healing that is is through this work.

SPEAKER_01

I absolutely agree. And, you know, I feel too very lucky, honestly, that I discovered my own spirituality so young. And I feel like so. I was raised Catholic and Lutheran and also Episcopalian. I'm from a blended family, so I had a lot of exposure. And I just remember going to church and just like seeing the angels. And I'm like, is anybody else seeing the angels here? Like, you know, and it was a really good foundation in all honesty. And when I was 19 and this happened for me, it was almost as if, like, oh, there's more, there's even more. And we can explore all of the more. And I feel like spirituality is unique to each individual person. And I'm open, I'm open to however people are experiencing spirituality. And I'll have various people who do go to church or are religious. I go to church myself, and they're almost like kind of perplexed as they come in. Like, we can do this work, and I can go to church. Yes. Just because I feel like it's unique to everybody. And so, with that, it's almost as if with spirituality, it truly is unique to each one of us. And it's almost like that relationship between us and our creator. So, whatever that relationship is. And in occupational therapy, we share that spirituality is whatever is meaningful to the client. So I have a cousin and he's in uh Montana and he's just like an adrenaline junkie. He is something else. And so he is atheist. And with that, though, the meaning he gets, so he works uh at Big Sky Ski Resort and he's uh avalanche control. And so he goes in at 5 a.m. and he checks to see if there's any avalanches that could happen during the day. And he goes in, he skis in and he throws the explosive to create the avalanche. And there's been a few times that he's just narrowly gotten out, like one time he just narrowly got out from underneath the avalanche, his ski got stuck, like all these things. And he got out, and that brings meaning to him. So some people could say, Oh, there's his spirituality, even if he's atheist. And so that's what I really appreciate is that it's uh spirituality is unique to each person. And however this transpires, it does. And what I love too is what this does for people. So with my cousin, especially, just looking at those neurotransmitters, the serotonin, the oxytocin, like the adrenaline running through him, brings him that connection with something more. And so that's what spirituality is, being able to connect with something more.

SPEAKER_00

I'm really glad you talked about that because there is kind of a, you know, there's a relationship between the religion and the spirituality, but sometimes there is a judgment against one or the other from the other, right? And you know, again, I think I completely agree that everybody has their own spiritual journey. And I think everybody should welcome everybody's spiritual journey, right? Because it is unique to them. So I I love the the embracing everything instead of the pushing out what doesn't fit in my box type of thing, right? So I think it's really important to say that this is more to what you already have, because what a gift if you can have those reassurances of of your beliefs. I think that's really, really cool and important to say.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. And my husband and I, we have a podcast, and this is it's called The Spiritual Life. And so his background, um, he went to school to be a pastor. And so he was a pastor for a while, and he's a biblical scholar. And so there's been a lot of our conversations, dinner conversations, where he's talking about the Bible and I'm talking about spirituality, maybe New Age or Eastern or that type of thing. And so we've come together for this podcast just because sometimes people will say, uh, like, how do you make it work? And I'm like, how do we make it work? You know, we have really engaging conversations. That's how we make it work. And what I appreciate is that, yes, just like you shared, that there seems to be at times almost just like not a battle necessarily, but just like it's either this or it's this. And my husband has shared, you know, myself as a medium. He says, Well, did you know you're in the old testament? And I was like, Oh, tell me more. And so I just appreciate that because uh all of this has been around for thousands upon thousands of centuries, you know. So just being able to look at that, where it's almost as if just looking at, you know, 2000 years ago, you know, Jesus, the disciples, like they were channeling, they were talking to angels, this was happening, you know. So just witnessing that we can't we all have that capability.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I think that's so important and it's so comforting. It just it's so Beautiful. I want to get into the intuition side of things. Um, but first I want to touch on Reiki as well, because along with your work, you do the energy work. So for those unfamiliar, let's kind of just touch base a little bit on what that is and how that's how that helps people.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. So Reiki, so this is energy, and everything is energy. And my own story with being able to discover Reiki is that I, again, endurance athlete, and I had been in a mountain bike race, and I had wasn't able to take out my clip from one of the petals. And so I got sucked down into like a ravine. And as I was trying to unclip, there was a tree that had fallen down and I hit the side of the tree and broke, broke my ribs. And so for the next three years, I had actually needed to go from doctor to doctor, like uh different ortho, you know, specialists and whatnot. And they really didn't know how to heal this and help me with this. And so after three years, they shared, you know, we really don't know what to do with you anymore. So we're just gonna send you to the Mayo clinic. And I was in Idaho at the time, and the Mayo Clinic is obviously in Minnesota. And so I just said, like, no, I can't do that. I I just I'll find something else. And so that's when I discovered Reiki. And so my own journey was almost just like, how can energy help me? Like all these doctors first for three years couldn't help me. How is energy gonna help me? And I just remember going into the first Reiki session and feeling the energy and not knowing quite what it is, but also just witnessing like it was healing me and it was taking the pain away. And and it was healing. And I remember calling the ortho, I think two or three months later, and said, Hey, I found something, it's it's Reiki, you know? And his uh receptionist was like, Great, I'll let him know. And I'm like, Thank you. And so Reiki is life force energy. So we all have that energy. And with this, we all have the energy rolling through us. And there are times where it may be blocked, or there may be times where it isn't flowing as well. And so for myself, the life force energy was not flowing very well with my solar plexus. So I have a lot of developmental trauma. Uh, the solar plexus is a lot with power. So I had given my power away through many, many years. And so through the Reiki, I was able to kind of bring my power back and allow for that life force energy not to be blocked in solar plexus and to allow it to move and to flow. And so, with that, a lot of the different people I work with, I work with a lot of people with medical anomalies. And so various doctors or nurses or that type of thing, doing the very best they can with Western medicine, but just are not finding the diagnoses. And so as we get in with Reiki, it's almost like, oh, okay, energy is not flowing there, energy is not flowing there, energy is not flowing there. And as it starts flowing, the person starts healing. So I hope that's a good explanation for Reiki.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's so perfect because you know, that is the number one reason why I started this podcast is because there are alternative therapies that people need to know about. You know, not everything will work for everybody, and people get very discouraged very quickly because when they go to the doctor and they don't get the answers they want, they feel like they have to stay in that place of pain or discomfort or injury or illness, whatever it may be. And when you lose hope of improvement, then you're just gonna get more sick, right? Because you're you're shutting down that energy and your body can't heal because you've already convinced yourself that you're stuck in this place of misery. So I think that with providing people with information and options to work through so much of this complicated body we have, we give them that chance to heal. It goes right, you know, piggybacks on what I said about using your mind to heal. Like there are other modalities other than Western medicine that you can use to optimize your health and just get well or better, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it it so is. And it's interesting just because I've incorporated brain spotting plus Reiki and have a course on that as well. And that was kind of discovered serendipitously, where I had a client on the Reiki table and she was coming to me for infertility. And so she was on the Reiki table and we were doing Reiki and she started going into a panic attack. And I just thought, okay, what other tool do I have for her? And so as she's laying there, I just said, okay, do you feel more calm here, here, or here? Just trying to find that brain spot. And she said, right in the middle, I go, Great, go ahead and just look at my fingers. How are you doing? What's going on? And she goes, better, better, better, better. And so the brain spotting in Reiki, I realized that those combined were actually really helping her. And so it's it's a beautiful, beautiful story. Just because I think it was a year later, uh, I hadn't heard from her for like a year. And I just remember she um sent me a picture and she goes, here's my baby girl. And I was like, Oh my gosh, you know, and so I think being a part of that journey with her was amazing. And so with brain spotting and Reiki, I just thought, why is this working? Like similar to like with spirituality, like, why is that working? Why is mediumship working? Why is it working? I wanted to do the research. And what I discovered was that when we go into brain spotting and Reiki, we're actually going into the theta, beta, delta waves and in combination. So those two together. And so with that, it's almost like then the body is using that energy and using that reconsolidation of those thought patterns, you know, being able to heal the subcortical and all of it's coming together so that person's body can heal. And so it's it's always amazing to me because I almost feel like it's it's my either my experiences or my clients that are teaching me all of this. I'm just like, okay, let's figure this one out. So it's been really fascinating to see again that brain spotting and Reiki come together. Yeah. So yeah, you're right. There's so many different things that we can do that are alternative that are moving the system, moving the body.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And that brings you to intuition because through you just mentioned there are things that you have experienced through helping other people and the experiences that you've already mentioned during your journey that have been breadcrumbs for you. And I talk about that often on this podcast that it's really nice when you get those breadcrumbs that help guide you through the forest where you go, oh, I'm going in the right direction. Good. But those are hard to find and hard to see and also hard to believe sometimes, right? So let's delve into intuition. Like, does everybody have it? Why are some people more sensitive? How do we trust it? Let's just dive into all of it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. What I appreciate about this is just looking at um, I like to look at it different lenses. So one lens would be occupational therapy, just because uh we all have a sensory system. And so with this, I love looking at this just because with occupational therapy, we would look at the five main senses and then add vestibular and proprioception. So vestibular emotion and then proprioception, you know, input to the joints and muscles. Well, through the research, we actually have 21 senses. So we have so many more senses. And so when I was working with young children with autism, those who were not speaking, I realized that uh I was picking up on their sensory systems and I would know what they were going to do before they would do it, which was really helpful for us. And so, with that, just being able to tap into their sensory systems and realizing that a lot of the kiddos that I was working with had extra sensory perception and I had extra sensory perception. And so there was like a really nice combination there. And so intuition is quick and it's embodied and it's often based on past patterns. So Randy Lawrence, he did a really good article on this on intuition. And so almost like demystifying it. And so everybody does have intuition. It's almost like how do we access it? And so, in looking at the all of the senses, if we're looking at extrasensory perception, then those senses can be to a heightened degree. And so with that, we all have senses and we can also heighten those senses or make those senses more acute. And so that can really amplify the intuition. So everybody does have intuition, and it's almost just like, how do we access it? And I think too that sometimes people will say, I just know. And so a lot of what I teach in intuition, which you may have already heard of this before, but the clairs, so the clairs just means clear, so clear senses. So those people who just know, they're clear cognizant. Those who can see are clairvoyant, those who can hear are clear audience. And so what I share with people in being able to accentuate your intuition a little bit more is almost like coming up with a clear formula, like what is your formula and being able to put it all together. And if there are some clairs or senses that are a little bit less, then we're just gonna turn the volume up of those just a little bit. We're gonna exercise you so that those become even more acute. And so with that, I feel too, just like you shared, just because I feel like there's been a lot of times where I've been my own skeptic, like people will come to me like for mediumship, and they'll say, I'm a skeptic. And I'm like, me too. And I do this work every day. And so there's been a few times where it's almost as if I have said, like, no, I don't believe, or no, no, I can't, or that type of thing. And then I'll just get a coincidence or something serendipitous, or I'll get a sign, and I just think, no, no, I can't be it, it can't be it. And then I'll get sign upon sign upon sign upon sign, and I just think, okay, okay, okay. And there was one point where I was being really, I was just thinking, like, why am I doing this work? I was thinking, like, gosh, you know, what is the point of this? And I was being really skeptical. And I just remember I get taps of confirmation. So it's like just loud, like it's like a knock on the wall. And so at one point I just said, nope, it's just the plumbing. Nope, it's just this, nope, it's just this. And then I have a friend who's in spirit, his name is Joel, and he came right into my face and he he just was right here. And I'm like, I go like that, I back up, and all of a sudden my dogs came into the room and they started barking at Joel, basically. And I was just like, and I said, I don't believe this like this. And I turned and he goes, Do you believe it now? Because the dogs would not start barking. And I'm like, I know him like that. And so the dog stopped barking and I was like, fine, I believe you now. And so I almost just feel like spirit, universe, the source, the powers that be will keep layering up the signs until we believe, you know, because it was like definitely one of those moments. I think it was probably five years into my business, and I was like, nope, I'm a skeptic. Nope, this isn't gonna work. And it was just like they were, they were gonna make sure that I believed, if that makes sense. So, and I feel like we all have experiences like that, you know, where it's almost like we may have those doubting times, and we also have those times where there's various experiences that say, please believe, like please have the faith, just because too with that, it's almost like, why not? Like I can either be skeptical or I can be not skeptical, like which one? You know, how do I want my life to be? So, and I'm sure too, I mean, and just bouncing it back to you, you've probably had multiple coincidences, signs, that type of thing too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I've talked quite a bit about them on the show, but you know, I remember the one that I mentioned in my when story is I my three-year-old dog ate gum that was poisonous and ended up passing away. And when we were in the vet, I was sitting with her, you know, talking to her, and I told her that, you know, remind her, just send me a cardinal, send me something so I know you're okay. Because she was, she was young, you know, it shouldn't have happened, and I just didn't know how I was gonna cope with it with everything else that had happened in my life in that recent time. And after she passed away, I was in the shower bawling my eyes out, and I look out, and on that tree, you know, right there at that moment was this cardinal that was so obviously there that I had never seen one there before. And it was, again, I always say it's seeing, seeing the right thing at the right time. You know, it's not like all of a sudden a cardinal's gonna magically come out of thin air and come right in front of me in the studio, right? Like that's not gonna happen. But but that was when I was like, oh, okay, like I heard that. So that cardinal for me was that gift going forward. And then um, I think it was 2021. A dear friend of mine passed away. Um, he was 49, uh, you know, overnight, unexpected. And I remember walking down my driveway and just like talking to God, going, like, why does this happen? Like, I don't understand. You know, your your emotional, that grief state really can open up that door a bit, you know, for some people, at least for me it did. And all of a sudden, this monarch butterfly comes up and like sits right in front of me and just kind of pauses and flutters, like talking to me. You know, it's that sounds weird, but you know, it was right there. And so then it drifted away, and I was like, okay, like that that was so obvious, I can't deny it. So then I went to the family afterwards, and that poor family, you know, was dealing with this grief. And I said, You guys are gonna think I'm crazy and that's okay, but I have to tell you this. So I told the story about the monarch, and then they they all go, Are you kidding me? And hear monarchs that he that's what he loved. Like every time they go for a walk, those monarchs were what he would talk about. And that like that was his thing. And I had no idea. And so then I was kind of like, Oh, maybe I do have a little bit of insight into these things. So I started acknowledging it a bit. And then most people that have listened to this podcast know what happened when my dad passed away, where you know, I would have the gift of the hummingbird. And again, I won't repeat that, but that was that was again one of those things where you ask for a gift and it comes back at you so deliberately that you can't possibly call it a coincidence. Like it's just so in your face. Okay, Erica, time to understand that there are gifts out there and that those who pass are with us, and that that intuition, it kind of forced me to look at my intuition not only in the other side, but also in my choices, in my guidance, uh, in my belief and my faith to understand that it wasn't just my imagination in that little voice, right? Right.

SPEAKER_01

And I appreciate you sharing this too, just because it's one connection relationship, like our loved ones want to have that connection and continued connection, and two, validation. And I feel like our human brains need that validation. So almost as if, like, you know, y'all are gonna think I'm crazy, but I saw a monarch and I felt this, and then you get that validation. Yeah, you know, so I feel like sometimes I'll ask for that validation. Like if I'm getting in kind of one of those modes or moods, or I'm just like, I don't know, I'll ask for that validation. And I think that that's so important and that we can get that validation. And what I feel like too is that like that's communication, that's the language of spirit, you know, it's almost just like, what else do they have? They don't have voice boxes, they don't have bodies, like, how else are they gonna get in touch with us? So it's like beautiful to be able to witness that they're using these other sentient beings to be able to convey the message. And I love that just because I just get a I get goosebumps and I get excited just because I feel like our loved ones are continuing to try to communicate with us. And and this is interesting. The other night, my my dog, my dear Daisy dog is in spirit. And anytime I see a daisy, I'm just like, oh, there she is. So her best friend is Charlie. So we were walking Charlie, and he really misses her. And we were walking, and I saw somebody, uh, my husband and I, and we were walking, and I saw somebody had a Daisy on their front porch. And I was like, Oh, Daisy. And all of a sudden, this other dog that wasn't on a leash came running and almost like trying to attack Charlie. And I realized, like in that moment, it was Daisy saying, Hey, watch. Because it was so interesting in that moment to see like Daisy. And it was like a split second, and my husband like shifted Charlie away, told the dog to go away, and we were safe. But I just thought, there's our loved ones are always trying to be there for us and always trying to look up for us. And that brings me a lot of solace and a lot of support, like just knowing that that language or that communication that they're trying to convey to us. And I just feel like too, whatever we can do, like I feel like that's got to be pretty hard over there in spirit, not having a voice box and not having a body. Like, you know, how am I going to convey this? I think about um, you know, the movie Ghost when Patrick Swayze is like, trying to push that penny. And I'll share with people like moving objects is so hard for people in spirit. And so it's almost like if they can send a butterfly or send a bird or go through sentient beings, amazing. I do have to share this, might be a little tangent, but this morning, because this happens to me often, I was in my laundry room and I saw like pants, and then I was like, all of a sudden, I was like, oh, and there was a dad standing there. And I was like, whose dad is that? And I heard, you'll find out later. I think this is the later. I do. So that happens to me often. And I almost just get a sense too that with this, I feel like it's faith, in all honesty. Like, I feel like when these things happen, we want to question them in the moment, but just to be able to witness like spirit's gonna give it to us. They're gonna give us the answers. Like eventually it's gonna come, you know. So I think that that's another thing that happens for people is they're wanting to know the answer and they want to know the answer right now. And so oftentimes what I'll do is I'll say, can you just give me the answer in the next couple of days, today, next week, something like that. And that helps me with my validation. So yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I'm with you, I'm with you.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, oh yeah, as I'm crying here, I have people who can't see me. Oh gosh. And you know, it's I think it's important that you say that you have to be patient with those signs too, because when my dad passed, you know, he had an experience where he uh stopped breathing and he came back and said, There's nothing on the other side, it's just darkness, there's no angels. And he was very, you know, resolute to the fact that that after you die, there's nothing. Like that's what he got out of that moment. And, you know, my instinct said, Well, clearly it's not your time, and that's why there was nothing there at that moment. And then the process that through his transition was so beautiful. I mean, there's so many gifts that I haven't even talked about, but again, you know, eight days before he passed away, I told him to send me the sign of the hummingbird, you know, then then we know. And then to have the chaplain by my side as my dad's passing and see her have the hummingbird necklace on is just it's just again, it was so crazy that I when we were, I mean, we were like laughing and crying and loving him, and I know he could hear that at that moment. And it was just so deliberate. I just so when you say seeing a father figure, man, that just gets me quick because of what happened at that moment my life changed. And it brought me, it brought me to this, to this microphone to tell people to have that faith and to make those choices in this lifetime because this life is short. And at the very end, you know, my dad sat with me and he held my hand and he, you know, it was like it was a Thursday, it was a couple hours, it was in the afternoon, and he said, Okay, Erica, it's time for that conversation. And he I said, I don't know how I'm gonna do this without you. And he said, you know, you'll be fine. Life is beautiful. And anytime I have that moment of doubt about this or about anything really, I remember that. This is a short life that we live.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so glad you're saying that because I feel like with this almost like a why not? Like, why not believe? Why not? Just because it's almost like it it improves your quality of life, you know, and helps to have that continued connection. My father-in-law is in spirit and he passed 13 years ago, and he he had a Jeep. And I mean, I would see this Jeep around town, and I it was just like so much comfort. Like I knew that his name is Mike, and I knew Mike was around. So ever since he's passed, no, I'm gonna I'm gonna tear up. Ever since he's passed, he's sent a is this the funniest thing? A Jeep on the left. It's always on the left every single day for the last 13 years. Kid you not. I never know when it's gonna show up. I don't know if it's on my Facebook news feed. I don't know if it's in, you know, I'm gonna pull him at the gas station or something like that. But I remember uh right before that pandemic, I broke my ankle and I was really bummed out. And so I was in the house and I wasn't based, I wasn't doing anything. I was pretty depressed. I was like doing nothing. And finally, like after three days, I was just like, okay, just open the windows already, Heather. Just open the windows, get back into life. Oh, it's gonna make me cry. I opened the windows, jeep, jeep, jeep, three jeeps for the each day that I didn't see one. So he has not missed a day. And so I feel like they're always with us and they love us and they just want us to know that and to know that we have that support and that they continue and that they can help us, you know. And I often tell people, especially in my readings, it'll come through like keep talking to me. Like the spirits will say, like, keep talking to me. I hear you, I'm listening, and just trying to figure out how to convey my messages back to you, you know. So, so every day when I get that Jeep on the left, I'll just be like, Thank you, Mike, thank you. Yeah, it's beautiful, it's beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I spend a lot of time talking and you know, just again, I've gotten so many, so many affirmations along the way. How does one take those? Like, I am very I consider them gifts that I have gotten as many signs as I have. And as I've said in the past, like take the darn gift, you know, just take the gift. But I have a hard time translating that always into like my intuition on my path, on conquering that fear and self-doubt of your path. I think everyone has uh a path of influence, of impact, where we as spiritual beings are meant to help each other. Like that's part of our purpose, in my opinion. And so I think that sometimes it's hard to know what path to take in your life when you don't have those breadcrumbs and those affirmations all the time. How does one take their intuition to help them along their path?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this is so good. And I feel like I'm gonna take it from multiple lenses. Is like one, we can always ask spirit, like we can always ask, please give me validation. Can you please give me validation? I'll just share two, and I'm on a brain spot right now. Um, my intuition brain spot. Like I just know that when I look when I lock into my intuition brain spots, boom, I got it. You know, so just being able to lock in is really helpful for me. And I feel like two, and uh the research that we've done on manifestation and also in being able to almost like get the validation for your intuition is the more and more you're looking for it, seeking it, um, you know, wanting to find it, it'll find you. And so that's the reticular activating system. So the RAS, you know, uh is looking for it. And so with that, it's almost as if just witnessing that the more that you're looking for it, it's looking for you. And that's been helpful for me. I know probably the last week or so, I've had just a harder time. Not, I mean, I tune in just fine for other people, but sometimes it's really hard to tune in for myself at times. And I just kept asking and asking and asking for the signs. And I think yesterday, and I was like, finally, but I think it was more me, you know, kind of being closed off. I found like it was almost like cardinal. I have a lot of numbers, like 714, 848, like all these numbers, the Jeep on the left. Like it was like nonstop. And I'm like, all right, noted. I'm listening now. And so I think sometimes we just need to ask. And it like once we are in that state, we're able to receive. Yeah. And it is hard to receive. I don't know if we're really taught how to receive, honestly. You know, so it's almost just like telling myself, like, just receive it. That's great, just receive it. And it was kind of blowing my mind yesterday. It was like every single sign under the book. And I'm like, thanks, where y'all been? But at the same time, I think it's that just that opening, you know, and and belief and faith, just doing the best we can.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think it's important that you know that what you're doing is helping people like me, you know, who spends a lot of time in being a skeptic and self-doubt and unsure of the path, and when, you know, hearing what you do and again, that confidence to believe and follow that faith is is life-changing. And we need those affirmations again to help guide us through our spiritual journey, through our life journey, through our purpose, through you name it, through our physical journey. I mean, all of the stuff that this podcast incorporates, it all comes together in being that best version and finding out which way to go, right? And that's hard for most people because you get knocked off at step one, you know? So thank you for all that you're sharing and all the work that you do, because I think that we really I think we're at the beginning of understanding. We're the beginning of starting to learn about the energy and the the intuition and the telepathy that I think we're just exposing. So I'm really excited to learn more about it, to have people talk about it, to people just start to explore the possibility of what if? Like how cool of a time are we in right now?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. And I appreciate that it's so cutting edge right now. And this is what I appreciate about brain spawning too, is that uh it is termed the narrow experiential model. East meets west, west meets east. And so we've had this information for thousands upon thousands of years. It's just that it's been over the last so many hundreds of years, been trying to be through this lens of science. And so now we're being able to see it through the lens of science. And so, just like you shared, it's almost like the intuition, the telepathy, that extrasensory perception is now being understood through science. So it's almost just like the science is now caught up, if that makes sense. So it's neat to be able to hear you say that because it's almost like, again, we're in this cutting-edge area or arena that like all that, you know, maybe the indigenous has known for so many years is now coming to this understanding of alignment.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Because for so long it was only about the science and you couldn't believe anything but the science. And now that they can work together and we can let's explore the possibility, which is so cool. It's so exciting. And again, not only on the spiritual side and the wonderful gifts we get and the science we get, but also on the health side to be able to put that mind and the spirit all together to help the body heal, I think it's going to be a game changer for people as they move forward with health challenges going forward too.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely, absolutely. And there's hope, you know. I just think that I see so many people with medical anomalies, medical trauma, because people are not able to figure out what's going on and being able to come in and have that hope. Like it's all encompassing. There's just like some components we're not quite seeing, but now here we are, you holistically, you healing is holistically you. So yeah, I absolutely agree.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's so cool. I could talk to you for hours and hours and hours, and I'm I'm sad that our time is almost up. So we're gonna have to have you back, and then I'm gonna see you at my personal appointment next next week. Because it's very, and it's just for me, it's very comforting. And I just like this episode again was at a point where I needed affirmation that this podcast is what I should be doing in order to help people and having a conversation with people like you who can share what they do, and maybe someone listening will need to hear that there are signs from your loved ones or that there are ways they can heal their body outside of standard care, I think uh is a game changer. So I'm very grateful for you joining me today. Um, so if people want to find you, let can you share us with your website and how people can follow you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. So you can find me at heathercorbett spiritual advisor.com or heathercorbett.com, and that's my brain spotting site. And then if you just look up Heather Corbett, Corbett with one T, you'll find me on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then what type of you you touched a little bit on the different types of appointments and and coaching that you offer. Do you want to just touch base real quick on that? Like what type of different services do you have?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So mediumship would be connecting with your loved ones. And then spiritual advising is accessing your gifts and then also trying to understand alignment to your life path. And then Reiki and medical intuition, brain spotting. I'm also a consultant for brain spotting. So if somebody is a brain spotter, they can come to me for brain spotting consultation. And then I have a lot of different uh events, so Reiki, uh intuitive classes. I have two memberships, uh very intuitive person, VIP, and then also spirit code. And spirit code is putting the science in the woo, which is really fun. And then also immersions. So there's a retreat coming up in August that incorporates all of this. So yeah, just multiple ways to be able to access Spirit.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I'm so I'm so proud of you and I'm so thankful for you. And I just, I just think it's all really, really, really cool. So thank you. I'll be sure to put the link to your website in the show notes as well. So everybody can can be sure to follow you. So I'm gonna wrap up this podcast by asking you the two-part question that I ask all my guests. So the first question is if you Heather today can have a conversation with your past self, maybe it's the you who went to the site of your cousin's crash, or maybe it's the one younger you who decided to turn that that gift off for a little while. What advice would you give your past self?

SPEAKER_01

I think I would say it all works out. In all honesty, it all works out. I think I've often asked the question, is this going to work out? And I would tell her, it all works out.

SPEAKER_00

So now if you could have a conversation with your future self, you can pick how far in the future she is. And you're sitting in your favorite place, maybe you got done with meditation, and it's just you and her. What do you ask your future self and what do you think she would say back to you?

SPEAKER_01

This sounds redundant. Does it all work out? It all works out.

SPEAKER_00

It all works out. Isn't that a beautiful thing? I love it when the conversation we had with our past self just follows what we ask our future self and it all is synchronistic. It's really pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Oh true. I love that. What a great question. Well, thank you so much for having me.

SPEAKER_00
